BTW!! Just stopped in here today to get some things to have a "homeless picnic "(don't ask) with my sister and we found out that they make sandwiches behind the deli counter!! YAY!! This is sooo exciting for us...we can now get one of our favorite chicken salads made into a sandwich to take on a picnic!
I LOVE YOU BLUE GOOSE!!!!!

I have been going to this store off and on for about 3 years now, since I moved out to Elgin and I… Read more »
I've been coming here ever since I was little. Even today, the cashiers recognize my mom and can't believe how much I've grown up! It's nice when you have that sort of relationship with the staff, everyone is incredibly nice and knows us by name. This is such a wonderful independent and family-owned grocery store - it's definitely the best place to shop in the area.
Plus, they have tons of homemade items, and I especially love their salsas and dips. We also get our turkeys here every year for Thanksgiving. Plus, with the new renovations this place is way better
than ever!
I don't live in Illinois anymore, but last time I went in, it was refreshing to see the sign above the aisle say "Pop" instead of soda! That's one thing I definitely miss from back home :)
Highly recommended for all your grocery needs!

The Blue Goose is a very nice, locally owned grocery store. That said, it's overpriced. The cashiers frequently are talking to each other instead of greeting you with a "hello" when you check out. The last two times I've been I had bad experiences. The first, I bought chicken. The next day I went to open the package and it smelled awful. I took it back (first time I've ever returned something to a grocery store) and the customer service rep didn't apologize but instead just asked if I want a new package ("Yeah, sure, I'd like more of your rotten meat"). The other time I bought a canteloupe that seemed firm but was rotten inside. Guess I'll only be stopping by Blue Goose for milk now and then. Too bad. I live right by it.
Local grocery mixed with gourmet shop.
This place has been around since the Fox River was a creek (no, really!) and that's because they've figured out how to do it right. A perfect blend of 'things you need' and 'things you didn't know you needed until you tasted them'.
Gourmet without pretension or condescension, lots of samples to try.
Prices are higher than Jewel or Dominick's, but so is the general quality. Small place, so selection is also limited - but what's there is generally top notch.
